Giving Projects

Giving back to the community is an important part of our mission. Throughout the year we host multiple giving projects to benefit charitable, community, and/or public service organizations. We invite guests and employees to participate. Below you can find information about projects we’re working on and how you can help!

ThanksGiving Donation Project

This year we are collecting donations for Hurricane Helene Relief in western NC AND Help 4 Kids, whose mission is to help children in Horry County. Read below to find out more about how you can help and receive a meal from the Hog Heaven, The Southern Chicken food truck, or Watts’ Cookin’.

Who is Help 4 Kids?

Helping the most vulnerable children of Horry County stay happy, healthy, and fed. Help 4 Kids / Backpack Buddies is a 100% volunteer organization that relies solely on donations. While school is in session, they collect donations of food and snacks, that are then put into food sacks that are sent home with underprivileged Horry County children in their backpacks on Fridays. They call them Barb’s Kids – after their founder Barb Mains.

Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Monetary Donations

Hurricane Helene has ravaged communities, and our peers and families in the affected areas are in dire need. We are working on ways to help. PirateLand and the PirateLand Ministry have made monetary donations to Samaritan's Purse and the Outdoor Hospitality Industry Association (OHI).

Read more about Samaritan’s Purse and their efforts in effected areas

Campground owners and operators in effected areas are facing huge challenges and will have a long road to recovery. Many parks are operated by family and “mom and pop” businesses. Our hearts go out to our peers and cohorts in the industry. The Carolina Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, CARVC, and the national association, OHI are teaming up and helping effected parks through OHI Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund.

If you feel led to help the people who work and operate SC/NC campgrounds impacted by Helene, please follow THIS LINK and click the “Donate Now” button. On that page under “Available Funds”, select “Disaster Relief Fund” and click “Donate.” On the next page, enter your contact information, and in the box called “Discount Code” enter: CARVC. This code signals that you want your donations to go to the campgrounds in the Carolinas. Any amount is appreciated! The more who give, even a small amount, will add up to big help for these campgrounds, their families, and employees. Thank you to OHI, CARVC, and all the campgrounds leading the way to bring help to our industry.

Supply Drive

We are setting up an item donation drop off area in the Front Office Lobby. Our “Donation Station” will be located by the mail and packages area. Emergency Management Officials have specifically request Cleaning Supplies, clothing for colder weather, and kids items, like games and toys. The drive will be ongoing. Here is a list of items:

  • Used propane tanks (#20, #30, # 40 preferred). Coastal Energy will refurbish, refill, and deliver tanks to families in need.

Activities/Events

We will have several opportunities for you to participate in the relief efforts through some of our Activities and Events in October and November. Visit the activity schedule online or on our app, and look for the ⭐ emoji. This will signal and opportunity to help.

Hero Boxes

We are partnering with Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina for the Hero Boxes Project. Blue Star Mothers are parents who have children serving in the United States Armed Forces.
